Android Question EditText boxes shadow top and bottom

Hi Please see attached image

The EditText boxes have a shadow bar at the top and bottom ringed in red.

how can I remove these ?

Must be easy but looks horrible

What is the targetSdkVersion set to in the manifest editor?

To:
