I'm absolutely gutted :-(

So I've owned mobile phones since 1997, today is the very first time that I've ever damaged a phone and I'm absolutely livid with myself. So yes, I've broken the screen on my 6P, it was raining and I dropped it on a curb then stood on the thing, absolutly fuming.

Anyway I've just had to order a replacement screen for it, 'I ent appy' :mad:

It's not a good feeling ... When the wife comes home from work with her 3 day old Samsung S6 edge .. and a strange look on her face.
Yes , she had dropped it, resulting in cracked screen.

Now this would not have been a problem a few years earlier, As I used to get the New devices and after a while 'pass them down' to her.
But for a while now it has reversed ... and I now take control of the old tech.

Seriously NOT looking forward to my 'New' phone with the cracked screen. :(

I know a man to whom such a thing happened.

He dropped his smartphone and tried to take it before it landed. During that instinctive movement, he slammed his head against a corner of a windowsill, so he retreated quickly.

Behind him there was his wife, who in turn fell backwards.

She was brought by ambulance to a hospital for checks. Her husband followed the ambulance with his car, but due to speed, his headache and his concern, he had a car accident.

Now he's dead, but his smartphone is still perfect, inside his destroyed car.

Short story: New phone. After 3 days I came in a heavy thunderstorm walking a long bridge...

I guess we all have stories like that.... My wife put her 4days old S6 on top of our plastic bin...
The S6 is way to slippery to my liking... Anyway, a notification fired up, and the vibration was enough to get the dahm thing sliding down to the ground.. resulting in a closed 4cm crack.
My work phone is a mid range phone... Wiko Réel, and the previous wiko i had handled the falls quite well... A few "scars" but no cracks... Anyway, on the second week of my new wiko, I had it in my pocket, along with my keys, and I needed to pick something from the ground... And it cracked... Badly!

When you buy a Ferrari, do you buy a protective cover it?

I find most phone covers ineffective for most "real world" accidents, and way too intrusive in the way you use your phone

I have Spigen cases on all of my phones, I also have full screen protectors too as I don't find them intrusive and my 6P Spigen case also has internal corner air pockets like suspension, the case it small and thing too. I only use http://www.spigen.co.uk/ cases. The problem wasn't the drop, or the rain, but it fell, hit the curb and I didn't know until I stood on the phone that was propped up at an angle on the curb and the road. I was moving things into the car and never realised that it was on the ground until I went back to the car stepped on the edge of the curb and it didn't feel right, so I looked down to see my phone and external power pack :mad:

Had some Nokias and then three smartphones. Carried all of them in my pocket without any bumpers. I damaged none of them.
Then this thread came up, returned true on me and i let my galaxy s4 drop on the street in a way which downloaded the spider app automaticaly yesterday :mad:
It is only in the buttom left corner that the glass is broken, but i'm angry at myself (and Peter :p) anyway. Phone is still working, so i will keep it till it dies....
Using the phone to check the time while pushing my son in his babycar, pushing the button of the trafficlight and waving a person i know on the other side of the street was too much multitasking :oops:o_O:mad::eek:
