My answer is simple: if we can only read, then we can't write. Or your question is not clear at all.

Excuse me but I don't know whether you have read your own post. If you follow the link that you provided, it is said explicitely that you cannot do this since JB 4.2. Airplane mode is now a secure setting.

I got an error. java.lang.security.exception permission denial not allowed to send broadcast android.intent.action Airplane_mode from pid=14318 uid = 10060 here's what i added to the manifest

Note that only apps installed on the system partition (e.g., by rooted device users) or by apps signed by the signing key that signed the firmware. Ordinary SDK apps cannot modify the state of airplane mode.
