iOS Question Silent push messages (firebase) - issues when in the background

My application stops recieving push messages when it's in the background after an hour or so.
I've read on the forum and found that this issue may be related to APN not working due to bad certificates, so I re-did them from scratch following the guides to a T but nothing changed.
Any help is appreciated.

Start with implementing non-silent push notifications. Do they work properly?

I'll re-test them more - they work, I'm not sure if maybe I just haven't encountered the issue of them stopping after a while yet during my testing.

1. Make sure not to kill the app by swiping it.
2. Test it in release mode.
3. Silent notifications are less reliable.

Yes but less reliable doesn't mean they stop after a while right? Just that they don't always arrive. I'll test some more, but assuming it happens with both, is it an APN issue? I redid the certificates so I'm at a loss.

Regular push notifications should work reliably. If they don't then you should start with fixing that. Carefully follow the tutorial and they will work: FirebaseNotifications / Push Messages (server not required)
