Android Question using ports

hi
as I'm not very familiar to socket programming... can I use any arbitrary port like 10000000 to connect to my own server. I know maximum port number is about to 65000 but they're for specific usages I do not want to use them. on the hand they may be closed one day.

No. As you wrote the maximum port number is 65k.

Low numbers esp. < 0x0400 are for specific usages, high numbers esp. >= 0xC000 are for whatever you want.
