I've been running it for a while on my Nexus 5X & I haven't found any issues with any of my apps - although I can't guarantee they touch any or all of the changes & new features in Oreo.

1. (Theoretically) nothing changes until you set the targetSdkVersion to 26.
2. Background services without notifications never really worked. This is exactly the purpose of Service.StartForeground.
Android O did fix my problem of being able to have an ExoPlayer on top of one another. I assume because the newly supported Picture-in-Picture support its now routing through that API.
