Android Question Visual Designer

I am experiencing a problem with visual designer. It was working fine but now when I select designer from the Files Tab nothing shows up. I get a blank screen if i hover over B4a Icon at bottom of screen. I also tried to use the designer tab on the top menu but get the same.

Does anyone have any ideas?

If you have got B4A running try holding down Shift and right-click on the B4A icon in the task bar. Then select Maximise and see what shows up.

If that does not work then a couple of questions . . .

The Designer does not appear on the Files tab, so would you like to explain again what you mean?

That menu item only works if you have already opened a project. Have you got a project open?

To open the Visual Designer you have two possibilities:
In Open Designer in the Designer menu:

Or. in the Files Tab:

Then, what do you mean with 'I get a blank screen' ?

Is the Designer displayed, but without showing any layout ?
If yes, it means that you have more than one layout files and none is displayed. You need to select one.
If no, i cannot help, i have never had such a problem.

I have opened a project and then tried both methods shown above (designer/open designer - default Group / open designer)

When I say I get a blank screen that is jot actually the case (as such). What happens is that when I hover over the windows b4a icon at the bottom of the screen it shows the open project in one small window and beside that another window which is blank. Clicking on that second window actually does nothing.

If I do the same using b4j it works fine and the designer comes up as expected.

You do not say that you tried this, so in case you did not, or did not understand what I meant, let me explain what I am thinking.

It is possible for a window to get relocated outside the monitor area, and so become invisible. There is nothing illegal about this, in fact it is sometimes done deliberately, so it does not worry Windows. However, if you do this acidentally then you are stuck. The shift + right-click trick is a way out of this.

First of all you need to make the target window the focussed window. Do this by clicking on the app icon on the Task Bar, and if more than one window pops up click on the target window. Then holding down Shift and right-clicking on the mouse will bring up the menu for the focussed window. Clicking on Maximise should bring the window back into view.

I am still not sure that this is your problem but I cannot see anything that precludes it, so you should give it a try.

As mentioned by klaus what do you mean with 'I get a blank screen'
1. Capture a vedio or take a screenshot for showing that
2. Upload your layout.bal

If you create a new project, does the desinger work? if yes , try to open the bal file in new project.

I am sorry I didn't fully appreciate what you were suggesting... I have followed your instructions and it has worked. I am curious as to how this happened but the problem has been resolved.
