You don't need a method/class/library for this. You need to go over the items and convert each item to a Map with its text and children as a list.

Done but it's not enough, because I cannot get (and then reload from file) the TreeItem event name.

I think the only way is to force the developer to use as event name the same as the text of the TreeItem (not a really good solution, but... how else to do?)

No, because the text can contain spaces, the event name cannot. Also, the user may want to change the text at runtime and the event name cannot be changed as well.
