how to set different colours (background) layout layout ?

This code is wrong. You should set the panel size before you load a layout.

p.SetLayoutAnimated(0, 0, 0, 200dip, 200dip)
p.LoadLayout(...)

how to set different colours (background) layout layout ?

p.Color = Colors.Red
