Android Question Adding In-app subscriptions to an app previously sold

My app has already sold quite a few copies. I now want to add annual subscription to generate recurring revenue as the database requires constant research and updating.

Is there a way I can give the subscription to people who have already purchased the app and have new purchasers subscribe to the app. This way in 12 months everyone will by paying more.
Its not fair someone who brought it last week now be asked to pay again.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Do you know the current buyers by email address? If yes I would pre-fill your (new) sql table with those buyers. As I've understood you are going to change your app anyway. So both types of users (old and new) are in the new plan. You could even give the old users a longer period then.

When you update your app to the new version I would announce the new rules.

This might be better than to make a new "pro" app for new users.

I don't think that it is possible unless you somehow have a list of your customers mail addresses.

Assuming I do have that list (Which at the moment I don't but am sceeming a plan) how would you go about it?

In this case you have several options:
- Check the device account email address and then contact your online server to see whether this is a current customer.
- Send them a file that will give them some credit?
