B4A Bridge not working

I am trying to get a project from the computer (Win7) to my Droid-X. I have downloaded the B4A-Bridge software to my Droid-X. It seems to be working on the device, I have two grayed out buttons Start and Stop. I then do the Tools>B4A Bridge>Connect in the IDE. I enter the IP address and OK. I get no connection. I am using the trial version of Basic4Android. I am using a usb cable. What am I missing?

What local network? I have the droid plugged into the computer with a usb cable. How does a network get involved? I just want to get a program I wrote on the computer onto the droid.

At the moment I am just testing this software out. I am a programming teacher and am looking for phone app programming software for a course for my high school kids for next year.

I have read both and neither seems to help. The computer recognises the droid as a removable disk and I can access the files on the phone so they are comunication over the usb link. The usb article does not say how to get the program from the computer to the phone.

If you use the B4A bridge your Android device and your computer both need to be connected to a wireless network.

If your device is not connected wirelessly to the same network as your computer then the ip address you get from your device will be incorrect and would not send the app to your phone.

Regarding the usb problem, my device does the same thing and showed as a memory card. If this is causing your issue then somewhere in the settings menu for your device will be an option entitled "use as usb mass storage device" and it will be ticked. If so un tick it and that should sort your problem so that if you just have it connected by usb and compile and run the app you are working on it should automatically install it on your device.
