Android Question Emulator extremely slow

I created an emulator AVD and it's running extremely slow. I click on things and they take forever to respond.

Here are my settings:

Device: 1024x600 ldpi
Target: Android 4.3 - API level 18
Memory Options:
RAM: 700
VM Heap: 32
Internal Storage: 200 MiB
SD Card: Size 200 MiB

Any idea why it's dogging?

The emulator IS slow, that's the way it is.

Steve .. are you aware of / tried GenyMotion ? .

There is also YouWave at http://youwave.com/. It is not free but both versions run very well - that is what I use mostly for initial testing.

I usually use my Samsung Galaxy Note for my work, but the tablet is bricked at the moment. It's a known issue with the Samsungs. They suddenly stop taking a charge and won't turn on. This is the first time I'm using the emulator and boy is it a dog!

Steve .. are you aware of / tried GenyMotion ? .

+1 - GenyMotion is awesome. It sometimes crashes on me, but it's way faster to load & run than AVD.

Just downloaded and installed GenyMotion. Wow, is that quick!

If you use GenyMotion (or any other emulation software), be sure to test on a real device too. it is not perfect. I have stopped using it because of the crashes and inconsistencies. A real device is always the better option.

I totally agree. But, at the moment that's not an option. Not until I get my tablet back from Samsung.
