Android Question How to detect if navigation bar is hidden/visible?

With Android v6+ the user has the ability to hide the nav bar. Some apps will adjust the layout according to if the nav bar is hidden or in view. How can I detect this?

Thanks Luca, I tried that but it doesnt work. The buttons always exist but are hidden. This code detects if they exist.

Further, this worked fine for portrait but the event doesnt trigger in landscape.
