Android Question Regarding the requests for app-ads.txt

I'm seeing a lot of requests for app-ads.txt on my site, and as I don't have that file I'm getting quite a lot of 404 errors in the server log.

It's not hard finding information on the net about what the file is, and it's basically some solution so that other apps can't spoof being your app, from an ad-display-perspective. (That explanation might be a little off, but it should be close enough for this thread.)

However, there are two things I haven't been able to find out:

1. I don't have any ads in my app. Do I still need this file?

2. Assuming that the answer for the question above is that I don't need the file, would it cause me any problems by simply adding an empty file called app-ads.txt? (Just to get rid of the Error404 entries in the server log.)
