B4J Question Two B4J apps data exchange (local)

Hi, All

How can 2 apps pass the data between, excepting just a file on a drive ?
It's for saving SSD flash from run-out by lots of RW-operations.
If important - let it be under Windows OS.

Any ideas ?

Just pass the file (data) location to the two softwares.

For example if the file is located on C Drive => C:/sharedData/test.csv

Just use File.Readstring in both apps specifying the location and file name

I am not sure if it is possible but there seems to be a lot of info in Google, have you thought about using UDP or MQTT?

Stackoverflow says that for UDP you need to bind the port. Erel has an example here.

I mentioned that it looks like the SSD may be dead soon, if apps are running 24\7.

This is not needed.

Use UdpSocket.Initialize2 and pass True to the LoopbackOnly parameter.

UDP is not guaranteed to arrive. Yes, it works 99% of the time but as one who has used it in a production setting I ended up sending each message 3 times. If you are on the same machine I would use memory mapped files.

No idea. But I will tell you its a terrible bug to find as it seems when you are testing it ALWAYS works.

I know Java supports it but have not seen any examples.

Do you use UDP via Internet (with found non-arrive trouble) ? Not used on single localhost practically ?

UDP over localhost should be reliable. It is very different than UDP over the network.
If you are worried about it then use TCP or MQTT.
