Ultrawide monitor 34 - 3440x1440

It's been some time now that I wanted to have a dual monitor setup but unfortunately my desk is not large enough to do so unless I decided for some smaller monitors.

Instead I found a solution by buying an ultrawide monitor, namely LG 34UM88, which is a 34 inch monitor with a 3440x1440 resolution and 21:9 format. In this way, I have plenty of screen real estate and I can organize my desktop apps in a very flexible way.

If you like gaming, then be aware that such a big monitor could require a powerful (and expensive) graphic card. However, if you are like me who uses the computer mostly for programming, watching videos, music editing, browsing etc, then a decent GPU should be good enough.

There are two flavors of these monitors, namely flat and curved ones. I decided for the flat monitor-type mainly because I found a great deal on this monitor i.e EUR 500.

I attach two images; one of my table with the monitor and a screenshot where B4A and B4i are open at the same time along with their emulator/simulator.

One thing to consider is that the text that you read on the screen is a little bit smaller but you can upscale certain stuff in Windows itself or in many apps (such as Chrome) you can increase the font size or zoom in. In this regard, I would really love to see that the B4X IDE could insert some extra zoom levels between 100% and 150% since 150% is too much while 100% could be too small for some people....

I do not feel the need for large monitors, let alone two!
I use a laptop with a 17" screen and it is more than enough.
What is the purpose?

You have chosen well: you can not see well a curved monitor when you are on a lateral position.

Productivity is my purpose. I am not arguing here and have no intentions of doing so - I just posted about my new set up and why I find it great.

No, I guess the hosted solution works just as fine. The only advantage I can see is the possibility to try out your app on the simulator and all different versions of iPhones and iPads without having the actual devices.

Bye the way, I have an LG 32 inch (I have no need for a dual monitor......yet), I know it's late now that you have that ultra wide monitor but even on that small space you could have 2 32 inch monitors attached to an arm and the arm clamped to your desk.

Nice, unfortunately I can't have a big screen directly connected to the computer (it would get in the way of the tv, so just a 20" monitor). I can, if needed, project win10 onto my tv, then I have a 49" screen to play with. Funny the tv is LG too.

Nice monitor, moster67. Is the text nice and crisp?

This is my setup at the office. 3, 24" monitors with the 15" laptop.


I couldn't do without at least 2 large monitors (or your 34, probably).

Yes, the text is nice and crisp although as mentioned earlier, a bit smaller. But you can easily adjust that by zooming in a bit in various apps (most software offers this functionality). I was originally planning, as @NJDude suggested, a dual monitor set-up with an arm clamped to the desk but that solution would leave very little room left for speakers and other stuff on the desk.
I am pleased with this solution

Once you try it you will not go back.

I'm using three monitors with two computers, one PC and one Mac. The center monitor is connected to both computers and I switch it when needed.

Heres mine. Only a small desk but I have a wide screen monitor and a 23" HD monitor of the same make and the same height to help with the feeling of continuity. On the left I have a laptop stand to hold the monitor at the same level as the other, since there isnt room on the desk for another monitor (or anything!). The two mac minis being so compact also fit in nicely. One has Mac OS and the other has Win7 installed natively. One day, when I make that $1m app, I'll get a bigger desk - but will probably fill it just as much

That's some nice setup, but, I would prefer using monitor arms like THIS ONE you really clear a lot of space and the setup looks clean.

Yeah, one day. I was using what I had - because I'm a miser Oh, also, the wide screen came with its own very adjustable (up/down, rotate, tilt) stand which I was keen to use. One of those arm wouldnt work in this set up, for one thing, the left arm would go across the front of my speaker and thats OCD adverse
