Other B4A UI Cloud is now online - The easy way to test your layout!

Basic4android UI Cloud is a new service that will help you with testing your layouts on multiple devices.

Using the UI Cloud is very simple. From the designer you choose Tools - Send To UI Cloud (or press F6). The layout will be sent to a set of devices hosted by Anywhere Software. Once the process is complete, the browser will open with two screenshots taken from each device.

Pressing on any thumbnail image will show the full image.

The set of devices currently includes:
- Galaxy S4
- Samsung Galaxy I9000
- Nexus 7
- Nexus 5
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 2
- Kindle Fire
- HTC One S
- Samsung Galaxy Note
- Samsung Pocket

The variant used for each device (and orientation) is the same as the variant that will be chosen at runtime.

So when are you going to buy the 250 other Android phones? Maybe it would be an idea to make the cloud decentralized so other developers can share their devices in the cloud. This only makes sense if you have lots of devices.

What is the point of this remark. This service was never advertised as 'See what your app looks like on every single device going'. At the end of the day alot of developers on here are one man (or woman) on his (or her) own and cannot afford to buy devices on every form factor. Myself included. I have a relatively high res phone and a 10" tab. Also, have access to a sgsIII which is x-hi res. I wish I had a 7" tab but I simply haven't got the cash. We all know the troubles with using the emulator and so I think this service is a brilliant idea. I for one will definitely be trying it out, once I find that link

Excellent feature. I am sure it will be useful to anyone using Desginer. Unfortunately I create my UIs dynamically as the app contents are also dynamically obtained from servers. I hope in the future there will be options to execute the full app on the cloud and see the output as it is. I will be only happy to pay for that.

1) Do you get a warning message?
2) Scripts are executed. AutoScaleAll alone in most cases is not enough to make your layout scale properly.

If you need more help with AutoScale then please start a new thread.

1) Can you upload your project (File - export as zip)? If not then can you send it to me by mail ([email protected])?

2) The script is run for each device based on the device resolution. You can use the abstract designer to locally test the layout. It should look similar to what you get with the cloud devices.

Yes to both questions(the page suggested is loading and is displaying correctly)

I tried with Firefox16, IE9. The same result.
But strange, in Chrome it's working well.
I notice that both Firefox and IE still try to load something...although the page was generated in less than 3 sec.

@wheretheidivides, if you have several variants in your layout then the UI Cloud will choose the same variant that will be chosen at runtime. This is a bit different than the standard designer behavior which shows the current selected variant.

You can try to run a small test and see that the scripts are executed correctly.

I got a timeout when I tried to send a layout to the cloud. I think this is because I'm behind a proxy? Is it possible to use this feature behind a proxy?

Currently it will not work with proxy. I will add it to the features list.
