If I purchase this software and run it on a Windows machine (XP), can I use my Android phone on wifi rather than an emulator for testing? With this config do I need the Android SDK? Do I need the JDK? The doc on the website is not very clear on this.

Yes, as long as your android can connect to the wifi and you get the devices IP. that should work fine.

So I can assume from this that the system I am using now, program and phone talking to each other nicely over wifi does not work on the full (paid) version?

Of course it works. Only the remote compiler is not available. The remote compilation feature is good to help developers to quickly try Basic4android.

Local compilation however is more powerful and much quicker.
