Android Question Which Java?

Im back after losing my development machine and buying a new one.
Just about to work through installation from scratch, I notice there are two possible Java JDK installs. - 8 and 11
It looks like if I install 11, then apps written using it may end up bound by GPL
'license permits usage in closed commercial projects.'

Does this mean I need to use the non-GPL version 8 if I wish to sell something I write?

Not at all. As the statement says, the license permits usage in commercial projects. This is not GPL. It is LGPL with classpath exception.

I recommend using OpenJDK 11.
