And best of all, it's no side effect, either now or in the future. ;)

I thought that the Italians believe that life without risks doesn't worth living. I've heard that for most Italians Russian Roulette is a boring game. ;)
This is not only the Italians, the Spaniards have the same thing :I've heard a lot about it too :D

We all share the same roots in ancient Greeks.
You may recall the Μοῖραι (I don't know how to spell'em in English, anyway it could be The Three Fates). They managed the faith of each man. So, no reason to worry about, Atropo will cut your life's strand when she decides to.

Let me tell you a real story. First year at the univeristy. One night we had a strong thunderstrorm with lightning hitting the ground in our own courtyard. My mate, really frightened, came to my room, hysterically feeling in danger. I took him to the corridor (no windows there) and told him:
If a lightning hits you, you die; so there's no (more) reason to worry about
If it doesn't hit you, you have even less reasons to worry about.

He went to bed and (at some time) he felt asleep. Fourty years after that, he still tells this story (and somewhat he grew to a brave man).

ps: I still hide under my bed, but he doesnt't know it.. :D
