Just some thoughts:

B4x is (by far) the best sdk but... Most big customers (= companies) don't really know much or anything about it. To be honest, I don't know much, too about "who B4x" really is. And yes, we have "us" in the forum and B4x is somehow equal to "Erel".

For many developers it is probably essential to have a long term support (paid of course) for the B4x products (to satisfy their customers and to be reliable for them). I do think that this would help B4x to get bigger and more accepted. What do you think?

I can understand that there exist client that too concern or not willing to take a single risk to something they never heard from the crowd. This people is either paranoid or we call them “kiasu or kiasi”. I think this why Linux community or distro publisher use this kind of approach.

It is a topic that has been addressed several times on this forum, @Erel said that long term support is planned even if he is no longer available. He also promised not to die in the next 30 years.

Every developer who chooses a language always takes into account the fact that this language could at any time be suspended or formed in production this is also valid for products that have been produced by Microsoft, borland (lamented), Google, Apple and so on.

Even Google at one point said it would ditch Android in favor of fucsia. However, many developers still continue to focus on Android.

It is a risk that everyone must assess individually.

Perhaps what I would suggest is to take an open communication like politicians. This is to convey the right image of the company.
Answering the technical questions in the forum in first person could pass the idea that behind there is not a company structure but a "one man show".

This leads to suspicion that its unavailability would stop the project. Getting other team members to respond in the forum or a person called @assistance might change something.

But I'm the last to give advice, I'm not a consultant and everyone has to decide for himself.

Yeah, I have friends who are stuck with that. I am surprised that Microsoft left people high-and-dry. My friends' developer keeps saying he'll convert it to HTML5 but in the meantime browser support of Silverlight dwindled to unusable.

But a month ago I discovered www.ieonchrome.com and that has mostly saved my friends when they have new customers to use their system. Biggest problem now is that dates are in USA month-day-year format, but we can live with that.

Why give such kind of “Expression”? ?
Well, I wonder anyone ever use Microsoft Expression (Blend)?

Honestly I really don’t know what it is. I only started ASP.NET with Visual Studio Web Developer using drag and drop webform inside the IDE. And I once build one and only WPF project from editing XML by hand. The project is a Music Player app (can be found in my GitHub) which I build to help someone pass his diploma.

Before 3-4 years created a big Project - my scope is to leave something behind for my family (if i die - hey i am ok / not sick) - the project was good enough and was a custom solution - my customer payed for it a big "price"... he wanted the source-code because his afraid that may be some day i will die... well i am not... i sold the source code and next months a better product came out from other "programmer-company" and the client "bought/buying" it as service (ironic) ...

What a great idea - sell it as a service... (nobody will ask you why - you can always say: this is what i sell - a service... you will never loose)

This example is for anyone believe that the IDEAS, the APPS, the MAN are un-replaceable... well all can be done and all can be change... the future is unpredictable... check CORONAVIRUS - who will believe that the whole planet will have this... nobody ! not even in a bad dream - was just SCI-FI movie that never has a good voting at iMDB was <5 !

So just create things - sell them in reasonable price (for yourself) - have fun - and always have in mind that everything can change in the next second !
and who knows... may be never die... ...but better... live the second, minute, hour, day, week, month, year !

the way things are right now... many companies put their eye on programing.... so very soon artificial intelligence is going to take over software development...
best thing to do is use the tools we have at our disposal ....create business, sell products and accept the reality of change (my experience is for more than 30 years on the field)

NOTE: My son is in college , they are creating new ways to do software ... that is my source

I agree with you, the big software corporations are sticking their noses into GNU and university projects.

I'm not so sure about that. Their current operating system, straight out of the box, can still run programs written for their operating system of a third of a century ago. Whereas Android and iOS seem to be actively forcing apps to need updating in order to run on current versions. ?

I think, at least, with the exception of 16-bit. built within that time frame. lots of legacy machines run "outdated-unspported" MS-OS versions. had a few of my own at my old office.
but that wasn't the point anyway. just an aside. just that globals more often than not miss the LCDenominator in the pursuit of bloat.
incidentally, my wife's organisation currently has the problem where a developer company vended them software based on silverlight, not that long ago, now there is no-one who can support the software, maintain anything, nor explain to them how to work it - and the application isn't mobile in any way either. vendor has moved on and ignores requests from the client. Money-out Money-in. high and dry.
